St Ethelbert’s Church is the first building that is seen entering the village of Littledean from Gloucester, and is Grade 1 listed. It is an important building in terms of the heritage of the village, with historical and architectural significance.

We believe that the ongoing maintenance of St Ethelbert’s is important to our community as a whole. We also recognize that, sadly, we are moving towards a time when the Church membership on its own will be unable to continue to maintain the building as required by its status as a listed building.

With this in mind, Friends of St Ethelbert’s is hosting a fundraising event in the village so that you can take in two gardens in the village that have interesting displays of spring flowers and marvelous views over the Severn and surrounding valleys.

Dean Hall: GL14 3NR

Entrance is through the side gate adjacent to the large main gates at the top of the drive.  Weather permitting, the drive should be full of crocuses.  Visitors are also invited to walk around the extensive gardens.

Dean Cottage: GL143NT

Dean Cottage is located on the left as you are leaving the village towards Newnham, past Dean Hall, and the Triangle where you can park.  You walk down to Dean Cottage over its cattle grid. There is a side pedestrian gate access as well.

Dean Cottage has over 15 varieties of snowdrops and has spectacular views over the Severn and a host of birds, so don’t forget your binoculars.

Entrance: 50p per person per property

Refreshments, Preserves, Cakes, Plants: available Available at Dean Hall in the courtyard barn.

All donations will go to the Friends of St Ethelbert’s, Littledean Parish Church, to support ongoing church maintenance.

We look forward to seeing you and your friends. Thank you in advance for supporting our historic and significant Grade 1 listed church. Now we need the weather to ensure the snowdrops and crocuses are out!!
